War College graduates present photo

LATHAM-New York Army National Guard members who recently graduated from the Army War College at Carlise, Pa., present a copy of a painting their graduating class had commissioned to the adjutant general of New York, Maj. Gen. Raymond Shields, at the Division of Military and Naval Affairs, Latham, N.Y., Dec. 30, 2019. The painting depicts the World War I "lost battalion," the artist is Lt. Col. Scott DeJesse, also a 2018 graduate, the unit is the 1st Battalion, 308th Infantry Regiment, 77th Statue of Liberty Division. In October 1918 the unit was encircled by German Forces in the Argonne Forest. Pictured are, from left, Brig Gen. Michel Natali, Assistant Adjutant General, Army; Major Gen.
