Carbon Monoxide Safety Matters

According to the Center for Disease Control, Carbon Monoxide (CO) exposure accounts for an estimated 15,000 emergency department visits and 500 unintentional deaths in the United States each year. Gas furnaces, gas water heaters, wood stoves and other combustion-based heating units generate carbon monoxide as a by-product of their operation.CO can't be seen or smelled and the effects of high levels of CO can be easily overlooked or mis-diagnosed. CO poisoning can be prevented however, and the current NYNG Safety Message is all about CO Safety.
