Guard Soldiers Assist in Gift Giving

NEW YORK-- New York Army National Guard Soldiers, from left, Private 1st Class Alex Bryers of Mastic Beach, Staff Sgt. Rosemary Taylor of Hillis and Spc. Adisha Donovan from Brooklyn all assist with the collection, sorting and distribution of donated toys and gifts at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan for Governor Andrew Cuomo’s “NY Gives Initiative,” providing state duties in support of the New York State Office of General Services to support the distribution of the donated items to families in need across the New York City region struck by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The Soldiers, part of the 222nd Chemical Company, based at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, served for three days along with more than 50 other Soldiers to help bring holiday cheer to needy families across New York City and Westchester.
