LATHAM - Five Soldiers and Airmen from the New York National Guard whose birthdays fell on Dec. 13, the same day as the National Guards 375th Birthday cut the birthday cake simultaneously as Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy, the state adjutant general and Brig. Gen Anthony German, the deputy adjutant general look on. The Soldiers and Airmen are, from left: Spec. Justin Phillips, 1427th Transportation Company; Master Sgt. Ian Tucker, 174th Fighter Wing; Sgt. Major David Smith, Headquarters 42nd Infantry Division; Master Sgt. Brenda Baxter, 152nd Air Operations Group; and Sgt. Joseph Dumas, 827th Engineer Company .
