WW II Aviator Remains Closer to Home

ALBANY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT--Members of the New York Military Forces Honor Guard carry the remains of United States Army Air Forces 1st Lt. Ray Fletcher from a plane to a waiting hearse Wednesday, Aug. 18 during an honorable transfer of remains ceremony here.
Fletcher and three others were killed in 1944 when the B-25 medium bomber he was piloting crashed into a mountainside on the Mediterranian Island of Corsica.
His remains were finally recovered in 1995 and identified in 2009. Fletcher will be interred in Essex Junction, Vermont.
