Honoring Women's Service and Women's History

FORT HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Lt. Col. Kelly F. Hilland, left, Director of Family Programs for Joint Force Headquarters, New York Army National Guard, congratulates Army Sgt. Sarah Johnson for her service at the Fort Hamilton Women's History Month Observance at the post fitness center March 19.
Hilland spoke proudly of her driving force that lead to her successful military career. "I was important to me to be a positive example for my peers," she said. "What you think is what you become. If I didn't believe in that quote, I would not have accomplished my goals. I believe in myself that I would fulfill my dreams. Fast-forward to now, I'm proud and glad to say that I have."
Hilland, Johnson, the Director of the Fort Hamilton family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation and family member Rebecca Rodriguez, who is an active member of the Fort Hamilton Community Action Committee, were all guest speakers at the observance.
