Soldier Readiness Center to Be Built at Camp Smith National Guard Training Site

The New York State Office of General Services will be soon be taking bids for the construction of a 92,000 square-foot readiness center slated to be built at Camp Smith, the New York National Guard training facility in Cortlandt Manor near Peekskill. The Readiness Center will provide administrative, training and supply space for 350 New York Army National Guard Soldiers. Funding for the center is part of the 2007 Future Year Defense Plan. The center was designed by QPK Designs, LLC, of Syracuse. The plan calls for a three-storey building with a brick, pre-cast masonry exterior. It will include a kitchen, an assembly hall, several classrooms, space for a military band, offices, locker rooms, and supply and maintenance spaces. The New York State Office of General Services (OGS) will advertise for construction in the Empire State Builder beginning on June 11.
