Index to New York in the Spanish-American War 1898

The men listed in these pages are men who served in New York Units during the Spanish-American War of 1898. For each man you will find a name, the regiment he served in, the volume the regiment appears in and the page the man is listed on. The volume refers to New York in the Spanish-American War 1898 (prepared by the New York State Adjutant General's Office. Albany: J.B. Lyon, State printer, 1900). This is a three volume set which typically lists for each person: age, when they enlisted (when they signed up), when they mustered in (when they officially reported for duty), how long they agreed to serve for, their company and when and where they were mustered out of service. If the person died or was wounded this is also mentioned.

Please note:
This book is not strictly in alphabetically order. There are some mistakes so you should check the pages close to the where you would expect the last name to appear.

If a person’s name in not listed here, there is still a chance he served in the Spanish-American War. He could have served with another state or with the US Army. If he served with another state you should contact that state’s historical agencies. If he served with the US Army, Navy or Marines you should fill out Standard Form 180 and mail it to the appropriate address as specified on the instruction sheet.
