BG Steven Ferrari is currently assigned as the Deputy Commanding General - Support, 42nd Infantry Division. The 42nd ID is currently organized with over 12,000 Soldiers from Army National Guard units located in fourteen different states. His two previous assignments were; Chief of Staff - Army for the New Jersey Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) where he supervised the JFHQ staff and daily operations of all fulltime personnel and activities in the NJARNG and Commander, 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team during its deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2008-2009 as a Security Force Brigade with duties in Camp Cropper, Camp Bucca, Balad, Ashraf and Baghdad. The Headquarters of the 50th IBCT was assigned as the Joint Area Support Group - Central in the Green Zone, Baghdad, Iraq.
BG Ferrari is the Director of Veterans Healthcare Services for the NJ Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and has oversight of three Veterans Memorial Homes with over 900 Residents and 1100 employees. He resides in Winslow Township, NJ with his wife Tracy and has two sons, Steven and Nicholas and two step children, Will and Malyssa.
BG Ferrari joined the Army National Guard in January 1981 as a Fire Direction Specialist in HHB 1st Battalion 112th FA, Cherry Hill, NJ. He received his commission through the Army Officer Candidate School at Ft Benning, GA, in March 1982. BG Ferrari served in the Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) program from June 1986 to August 2011. He was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General on 29 May 2012.
Military assignments include; Chief of Staff - Army NJ Joint Force Headquarters, Commander of the 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, G3 Operations and Training NJ Joint Force Headquarters, Director of Homeland Security NJ Joint Force Headquarters, Assistant Chief of Staff NJ Joint Force Headquarters, Commander of the 3rd Battalion 112th Field Artillery, Director of Training and Executive Officer at the ARNG Training and Training Technology Battle Lab, Assistant G3 Training NJ Joint Force Headquarters, and 1st Battalion 112th FA Battalion Executive Officer, S3, S2, Fire Direction Officer, and Firing Battery Commander.
His military education includes; the Army War College Class of 2007, Title 10/32 Joint Task Force Commanders Course, Command and General Staff Officer Course, Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course, Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Master Fitness Trainers Course, and Security Assistance Management Training Officer Course at the Defense Institute of Security Assistance. His civilian degrees include a Bachelors of Science in Business Information Systems and a Masters of Strategic Studies.
