About 30 members of the wing, based at Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia, N.Y. returned from a month-long combat mission in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While members of the wing, which specializes in Artic and Antarctic operations, have served in the Global War on Terror since 9/11, this mission as the first time the unit's C-130 aircraft were deployed.
